Pennsylvania:Health Insurance Exchange Decision

Pennsylvania will allow the federal government to implement a major part of the Affordable Care Act without state input, Gov. Tom Corbett (R) announced Wednesday. Corbett now joins New Jersey Governor Christie who late last week declined to setup a private health insurance exchange in New Jersey

Pennsylvania is now the 22nd state to declare that it will not create a health insurance exchange under the law, Corbett said in a press release. To view a full list of state decision, please review the Exchange status list. States have till the middle of December to provide a decision as to how they will have their exchange established. The Private Health Insurance exchanges are online market place to allow individuals with out employer provided insurance to purchase health insurance exchange starting January 1, 2014
